To implement the official dispatch No. 299 /KN-ĐTHL dated June 3, 2022, of the National Center for Agricultural Extension on the announcement of the development of a training mission plan for agricultural extension training in 2022, the Vietnam Forest Certification Office organized a ToT training course on sustainable forest management and forest certification for agricultural extension officers in Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue. Details of the training are as follows:

Purpose:

-To equip knowledge and to build capacity on sustainable forest management and forest certification for extension workers to support and promote the implementation of sustainable forest management and forest certification in localities.

Training contents:

– An overview of sustainable forest management and forest certification

– Introduction of the National Forest Certification System (VFCS), including Sustainable Forest management standards VFCS/PEFC ST 1003:2019 and Group forest management standards: VFCS/PEFC ST 1004:2019;

-Steps and documents to be prepared for forest certification implementation.

– Main contents and guidelines for the development of sustainable forest management plans.

– Skills for agricultural extension officers in implementing sustainable forest management and forest certification.

– Visiting the model of implementing sustainable forest management and forest certification for smallholders, the model of group forest management organizing of smallholders to apply for forest certification, the documents to be prepared, the forest management site, the practice of identifying potential environmental and social risks in the field and assessing the compliance level of the forest owner under regulations in the sustainable forest management standard
