In the context of the Covid-19 complicated epidemic situation, the international experts of the PEFC -The Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification were absent from participating in direct training in Vietnam. The General Department of Forestry coordinated PEFC with experts to organize a course, training for Forest Certification Organizations in Vietnam (CBs) on Sustainable Forest Management (VFCS/PEFC FM) certification and Product Chain of Custody (PEFC CoC) certification.
The online training course took place on April 15, 2021, received enthusiastic participation with more than 60 participants from nearly 20 Organizations in Vietnam. During this event, experts from the Sustainable Forest Management Certification Office (VFCS) and PEFC provided detailed information about the two Sustainable Forest Management standard sets, VFCS/PEFC FM and PEFC CoC, the latest version 2020. They also answered questions from the Assessment Organizations regarding the assessment process, helping understand more about the difficulties of the certification bodies and the market challenges in Vietnam.
