Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) is a legal entity responsible for running and managing the Vietnam Forest Certification System (VFCS) which was established under Decision No. 1288 of the Prime Minister. VFCO aims to promote sustainable forest management, ensure legal timber resources, and contribute to economic development, meeting the increasing demands of the market, creating an important foundation for the country’s sustainable development.
VFCO has been working closely with PEFC, certification bodies and stakeholders to promote sustainable forest management and forest certification in Vietnam. The results achieved are remarkable, including development of standards and guidelines for the implementation of forest certification, capacity building for certification bodies and stakeholders, market linkage in nationally and internationally, promoting cooperation between businesses enterprises and forest owners.
To strengthen cooperation among stakeholders in promoting the implementation of sustainable forest management and forest certification against the Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme, VFCO has launched a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City on 28th October 2022.
At the launching ceremony, Mr. Vu Tan Phuong, director of VFCO, affirmed his strong belief that, in the coming time, VFCO, its partners and stakeholders will continue to cooperate closely to speed up the progress and quality of the certificate of sustainable forest management, increase access to regional and international markets, towards accomplishing the goals of the Forestry Development Strategy for the 2021-2030 period with a vision to by 2050, effectively contributing to the goal of climate change mitigation and adaptation.
