On April 29, 2022, the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) and the Bureau of Accreditation (BOA) had a meeting to exchange and sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between VFCO and BOA. Attending the meeting and signing ceremony of MOU were Mr. Dang Quoc Quan – Deputy Director in charge of BOA, Mr. Vo Dai Hai – Director of Vietnamese Academy of Forest Sciences, Mr. Vu Tan Phuong – Director of VFCO and other officials of VFCO and BOA. The two sides exchanged results of cooperation in the past time and agreed to strengthen cooperation to promote forest certification activities in Vietnam under the Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme. Areas of cooperation focus on capacity building for certification bodies and stakeholders, development of standards and guidelines; information sharing, supervision of certification organizations, workshops organization, and brand promotion activities of the two sides.
VFCO was established in 2019, is the organization that implements the Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme (VFCS) and is authorized by PEFC to manage PEFC activities in Vietnam. VFCO is responsible for developing standards and guidelines on forest certification; sign contracts to appoint certification bodies; training and capacity building on forest certification; manage and license the use of VFCS and PEFC trademarks; and quality monitoring certification.
BoA was established in 1995 under the Ministry of Science and Technology and is a member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). In certification activities, BOA provides assessment and accreditation services for testing laboratories, calibration laboratories, conformity certification organizations, and inspection organizations according to Vietnamese regulations and international practices; standards training, internal assessment, etc.
