Sharing information on the role of Forest Certification in aligning with EUDR

On March 29, 2025, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam (VCCI) organized a workshop titled “Sharing information on EUDR Regulations for the Wood Industry” The workshop gathered over 100 participants, including 60 in-person attendees from more than 40 enterprises and approximately 50 online participants.

At the event, Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Tiệp, Deputy Director of VFCO, presented the compatibility between forest certification and EUDR; the approach and implementation strategy to help Vietnamese businesses align with EUDR requirements. He specifically discussed the the application of module standrad PEFC ST 2002-1:2024 – Requirements for the Implementation of PEFC EUDR Due Diligence System (PEFC EUDR DDS). This topic attracted significant interest from attending enterprises, who requested to organized this workshop.

During the workshop, speakers and participants engaged in discussions on key issues, particularly on collecting information, risk assessment, and risk mitigation when sourcing materials from multiple supply chain links. Additionally, the integration of multiple certification requirements—such as sustainable forest management certification, Chain of Custody (CoC) certification, EUDR certification, and REDII certification—into a single PEFC certification system was highly appreciated, as it helps businesses reduce operations costs.
