Sustainable forest management aligning EUDR

PEFC, the largest international forest certification organization with 296 million hectares of certified forests as of June 2024, is in the process of consulting to supplement the PEFC ST 1003 Standard on sustainable forest management to meet the European Union’s regulations on deforestation free products (EUDR). PEFC, is currently conducting public consultation on amendments to the PEFC ST 1003 standard that is published here: Introduction to the proposed amendments to the PEFC Sustainable Forest Management standard – PEFC – Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. The consultation process will end on July 13, 2024. Detailed information about the EUDR is available at the PEFC EUDR website.

Previously, PEFC has developed the Module standard for the PEFC ST 2002 (PEFC EUDR). This standard is in the process of being considered for approval. It is expected that, after approving these standards, PEFC together with national forest certification systems will disseminate and implement forest certification meeting EUDR requirements.
