From November 11th to 13th, 2024, Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) cooperated with the Agricultural Extension Center of Thai Nguyen Province to organize a training course on “Skills in organizing production according to the sustainable plantation value chain”. The training course was attended by 30 trainees, including agricultural extension staffs, cooperative members and farmers.
During the training course, trainees were introduced about: Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme (VFCS/PEFC); VFCS/PEFC ST 1003:2019 Sustainable Forest Management Standard, VFCS/PEFC ST 1004:2019 Group Forest Management Certification Standard; guidelines for the developing of sustainable forest management plan; guidelines for implement sustainable forest management and forest certification and common non-conformities.
On the field, the trainees practiced analyzing and identifying non-conformities related to the environment and working safety. In addition, the trainees were introduced to techniques applied to sustainable forest management and improving forest productivity such as pruning techniques, post-harvest material management, visiting models using high-quality seeds and the plantation model without burning the vegetation. These are new models and knowledge that the trainees enthusiastically received and willingness to share to farmers to promote sustainable forest management in Thai Nguyen province.
