The 7th Biomass & BioEnergy Asia Conference with the theme “Enabling Sustainable & Stable Production of Biomass from SE Asia” takes place from November 28-30, 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City. There are about 1,200 delegates representing businesses, consumer organizations, manufacturers and related parties participating in the workshop.

On the first day of the Conference, delegates visited the Uniexport’s Nam Tan Uyen Wood Pellet Plant  and the Control Union’s Biomass Laboratory. On November 29, 2023, at the main forum of the Conference, Mr. Vu Tan Phuong, Director of the Vietnam Forest Certification Office, gave a presentation about Vietnam’s Forestry Development towards Sustainability & Legality. Under the context that Vietnam, the country has more than 1.7 million hectares of planted forests managed by about 1 million households, the application of the national forest certification scheme as well as compliance with Vietnam Timber Legality Assurance System to ensure the sustainability and legality of pellet products produced from wood materials from Vietnam plantation is essential.

The Conference is an opportunity for partners and customers using pellets in Asia and around the world to understand more about the sustainability and legality of raw materials for pellet production in Vietnam. The results of the conference are expected to be a boost for Vietnam’s pellet exports in the coming period.
