In two days, April 13-14, 2022, the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) cooperated with PEFC to participate in the biggest wood furniture fair of the year “Furniture Sourcing Day” organized by the Ho Chi Minh City’s Fine Arts and Woodworking Association (HAWA) held in Ho Chi Minh City. Participating in the fair are more than 300 businesses and over 100 representative offices of organizations related to the production, processing and trade of wood products. The fair is an opportunity to meet and connect manufacturers, buyers, and suppliers through product introduction booths, trade handovers and side events.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Do Thang Hai, Chairman of HAWA Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Director of Forestry Production Development Department (Vietnam Administration of Forestry) Mr. Nguyen Van Dien and other guests visited and congratulated VFCO and PEFC’s booths.
The Vietnam Forest Certification Scheme (VFCS) was established under the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1288/QD-TTg dated October 1, 2018 approving the Scheme on Sustainable Forest Management and Forest Certification. VFCS is the 51st member and is recognized by PEFC in 2020. VFCO is a legal entity responsible for the management and operation of VFCS. The objectives of VFCO and PEFC are: i) Managing forest sustainably to meet Vietnamese and international regulations, and ensuring economic, social and environmental benefits; ii) Traceability of raw materials is certified by PEFC’s product chain of custody from the forest to the consumer; iii) Companies identify and use certified materials during processing and stored trade;
