VFCO undertakes a sub-project on EUDR funded by Innovation and Competitiveness Grant (ICG) under the Vietnam – Switzerland Trade Cooperation Program

Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) was selected as the implementing organization for a  sub-project titled “Supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to implement EU Deforestation-free Commodity production regulations (EUDR)”. Accordingly, an authorized organization is the International Trade Centre (ITC) has signed an agreement with VFCO on sub-project implementation and it is planned to take place within 12 months and be completed by December 2025. The overall objectives are to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for exports and participation in global value chains (GVCs) through the development of guideline and capacity building for the implementation of deforestation-free agricultural commodity production, forest degradation to meet the trade requirements of agricultural products in the EU market as stipulated in the EUDR and in compliance with the provisions of Vietnamese laws. The expected ouputs include: (i) EUDR implementation guidelines for coffee, rubber and wood-based products; (ii) Guidance on verification of EUDR compliance for certification bodies; (iii) Database serving the implementation of EUDR requirements; and (iv) Workshops and trainings to improve capacity for Vietnamese enterprises and stakeholders across the production and supply chain.

The results of this sub-project will create transparency and accountability of individuals and businesses involved in the production and supply of agricultural products that meet the requirements of the EU market and the country’s goals in reversing deforestation and forest degradation.
