Consultation Workshop on PEFC CoC/DDS Guidelines for Woodchips and Pellets

On September 19, 2025, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO) organized a consultation workshop on the draft PEFC Chain of Custody (CoC) and Due Diligence System (DDS) Guidelines for Woodchips and Pellets. The event brought together about 40 participants onsite and nearly 80 online, including representatives from government agencies, wood associations, pellet and woodchip companies, specialists, research and  other stakeholders. 

The workshop focused on sharing information about Vietnam’s timber trade, policies on sustainable forest management and focus on provide comment and discussion about the draft CoC/DDS guidelines for enterprises producing woodchips and pellets. Key topics included traceability of raw materials, supply chain risk assessment, and ways to meet legal and market requirements.

 

Participants actively discussed the draft guidelines and provided many useful suggestions. These inputs will help VFCO improve the document so that it can better support enterprises in building effective CoC/DDS systems. This will enable companies to strengthen their supply chain management, demonstrate legal sourcing, and meet the growing demands of international markets for sustainable and responsible products. 

The workshop not only provided a platform for dialogue but also showed VFCO’s commitment to working with businesses in their efforts toward sustainability and global market access.
