From 8–11 December 2025, in Quang Ninh province, the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO), in coordination with the Provincial Forest Protection Sub-Department of Quang Ninh, held a capacity building training course on the implementation of the PEFC Chain of Custody (CoC) standard for woodchip manufacturing enterprises in Northern Vietnam.
The training attracted approximately 30 participants, including managers, staff, and raw material procurement officers from woodchip manufacturing enterprises in Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, Lang Son, and Hanoi. The objective of the course was to equip and enhance enterprises’ capacity building to establish, operate, and maintain the Chain of Custody (CoC) system and the Due Diligence System (DDS) in accordance with PEFC requirements.
Within the framework of the program, in addition to technical presentations delivered by the trainers, participants visited a PEFC-certified multi-site woodchip production model at Quang Ninh Woodchip Co., Ltd. The visit was complemented by exchanges and discussions on practical situations arising during raw material procurement, origin control, production operations, warehousing, and sales management within enterprises.
To facilitate enterprises’ access to PEFC CoC certification, VFCO has developed detailed guidance for the implementation of the PEFC ST 2002:2020 standard, Chain of Custody of Forest and Tree Based Products – Requirements. Following this training course, VFCO will continue to organize similar training programs for woodchip and wood pellet manufacturing enterprises in the northern, central, and southern regions of Vietnam.
