On 21 November 2025, the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection hosted and chaired the conference titled “Addressing Challenges, Removing Trade Barriers, and Expanding Export Markets for Wood and Forest Products.” The conference was attended by more than 100 participants representing regulatory bodies, the Trade Remedies Authority, the Vietnam Forest Certification Office (VFCO), wood associations, enterprises, and industry experts. The discussions focused on the current situation of wood and forest product trade, challenges in market access, tariff-related issues in the United States, as well as the status of and response measures to trade-remedy investigations affecting the wood-processing sector.
At the event, Mr. Vu Tan Phuong, Director of VFCO, emphasized the importance of ensuring legal and sustainable raw materials through the implementation of VFCS/PEFC Sustainable Forest Management standards, Chain of Custody certification, as well as compliance with EUDR and RED requirements. VFCO continues to expand its certification scope, including carbon credits, and actively cooperates with national forest certification systems to support enterprises in market linkages and access for the export of wood and forest products.
